BIRTH OF A LEGEND

REVOLUTIONIZING ROADS AND WINES

THE FERRUCCIO LAMBORGHINI STORY

1960: Lamborghini's Agrarian Retreat

Ferruccio Lamborghini, struck by the enchanting landscape, retires from the car business in the 60s to embrace agriculture. The Lamborghini estate emerges between Trasimeno lake and Panicale.

1970: Unconventional Grape Planting

After purchasing the property, Lamborghini plants diverse grape varieties like Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, a departure from traditional choices like Sangiovese.

1990: Patrizia's Winemaking Legacy

Patrizia Lamborghini takes the reins in the mid-'90s, intensifying the estate's pursuit of crafting quality wines. Her commitment echoes her father's ambition for premium Italian wines.

Tractors to Supercars

Ferruccio Lamborghini's journey begins with Lamborghini Trattori in 1948, thriving in the production of tractors marked by the zodiac bull. The venture's success propels Lamborghini into wealth. In the late 1950s, he diversifies into fuel burners and air conditioning, even contemplating helicopters.

Ferrari's dismissive remark about tractors sparks Ferruccio's resolve to create his own sports cars, leading to the founding of Automobili Lamborghini in 1963.

Lamborghini's Rise, Fall, and Vineyard Legacy

Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A., founded on May 7, 1963, exceeded Ferruccio's expectations, making Lamborghini a formidable name in the sports car world. By the late 1960s, the company employed approximately 4500 people. However, economic challenges, the oil embargo, and a global recession forced Ferruccio to sell 51 percent of Automobili Lamborghini in 1972. Just two years later, he parted with his remaining shares and left the factory.

Ferruccio's post-automotive venture led him to the La Fiorita estate by Lake Trasimeno in Umbria. In 1975, he entered the wine industry, producing "Sangue di Miura" ("Blood of the Bull") with enological supervision. Embracing a renewed spirit, Ferruccio also constructed a hydraulically powered golf course and a car museum. His enduring love for the Miura model persisted until his passing on February 20, 1993, at the age of 77.

Legacy Lives On

His daughter, Patrizia, takes over in the mid-'90s, not only continuing the pursuit of quality wines but also venturing into the vibrant world of spirits. Under Patrizia's stewardship, the estate's vineyards flourish, focusing on Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Grechetto, while also embracing the rich tradition of tequila production.

With the same dedication to excellence, Patrizia introduces Tequila Patrizia Lamborghini, crafted from the finest blue agave in Jalisco, Mexico. This bold expansion into tequila showcases a seamless fusion of Italian innovation with Mexican heritage, supervised by master distillers to ensure a product that stands out in the spirits industry.

Extensive replanting and meticulous winemaking, alongside the careful distillation of tequila, supervised by Riccardo Cotarella and renowned tequila masters, yield high-standard modern wines and spirits. Lamborghini's legacy endures and broadens, with each bottle of wine and tequila crafted with precision and passion, celebrating the family's commitment to quality, terroir, and the art of fine living.
